As many of you know, after an extensive four-year-long restoration the Minnesota State Capitol has been returned to its original beauty, and is holding it's Grand Reopening this weekend. To celebrate Minnesotans being welcomed back to the People’s House (one of the most magnificent state capitols in the nation) a weekend full of events for all ages is open to the public. These events range from fireworks, concerts, demonstrations by the craftsmen who worked on the restoration, behind the scenes tours, and generally reacquainting Minnesotans with their Capitol’s renewed beauty and newly restored public spaces.
The celebration will have something for everyone through this weekend (August 11th, 12th, and 13th)– Most of the events are free, or offered at very little cost. I hope you have time to visit your newly restored Capitol.
Hutchinson High School junior, Margaret Kleiman, spoke at the official dedication ceremony earlier today, and it was a pleasure to hear such an articulate student do our community proud at this state event!
