Legislative Update from Rep. Franson

Friday, May 24, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

We ended the Legislative session on Monday. While we finished the Higher Education bill in time for adjournment, all of the other budget bills took longer to hash out. Negotiations have continued throughout this week, and now all budget bills have been agreed to by leadership. If you’d like to check out the bills as written for special session, they are all available here. The Governor called a special session starting at 10am today, so we will be here working until we get the entire state budget passed.

We took some time for a group photo during the last days of session, which turned into a poignant reminder that during these stressful days at the end of session, when everyone is tired and a little short on patience, that we all rely on each other – and most importantly, we’re all still friends, come what may. The Star Tribune wrote about our trip up to the roof of the Capitol for that group photo; you can read the story here.

I want to take a moment to honor those who have sacrificed everything in defense of our country. I am forever grateful for those who gave their lives protect us, and my thoughts and prayers are with those whose loved ones have given the ultimate sacrifice.

If you ever have comments, questions, or concerns regarding any issue related to state government, please feel free to contact me. I can be reached via phone at 651-296-3201 or by email at rep.mary.franson@house.mn.

It’s an honor to represent the best!
