Veterans Day Message

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Dear Neighbors,

This Wednesday, November 11th, we celebrate Veterans Day. A time for Americans to reflect on the sacrifice of so many men and women who have selflessly served our country in the United States Armed Forces. It is also a time to thank our veterans, if you see a veteran this week or any time of the year, shake their hand and thank them for their service. We owe a great deal of gratitude to these heroes.

Many of us know someone in uniform; we understand the selfless commitment made by service women and men and the toll it can take on the families who support them along the journey.

A supportive community strengthens the spirit of military families, and we can extend that support by getting involved or reaching out—even in simple ways.

I would encourage you to find ways in our community to give back to those who have served to give us so much. There are many ways to volunteer whether through community outreach programs or through the Veterans Affairs office. The Department of Veterans Affairs website has more information about volunteering: http://www.volunteer.va.gov/.

Again, thank you to those of you have answered the call to serve, we are forever indebted to you.

Also, with deer hunting season underway, I hope that many of you will take advantage of Minnesota’s rich heritage of hunting. May you have a safe hunt and enjoy the beautiful weather we’ve had so far.

Sincerely,

Mary
