FABIAN RESPONDS TO ELLISON’S SUPPORT OF SHUTTING DOWN MICHIGAN’S ENBRIDGE LINE 5
ST. PAUL, MN – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison filed a brief backing Michigan’s Attorney General Thursday, in a lawsuit to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline. Representative Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, Republican Lead on the Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division, issued the following statement regarding the unusual move.
"Having the Minnesota Attorney General weigh in on an issue in Michigan relating to Enbridge takes away any semblance of impartiality for future legal issues relating to the Line 3 replacement project in Minnesota. Attorney General Ellison should keep his focus here in Minnesota rather than filing politically-motivated lawsuits in other states."
The Enbridge Line 3 project will replace Minnesota's current aging pipeline, and is anticipated to enter service in late 2020.
