Here is the latest news from District 1A!
I had the opportunity recently to tour the Magnusson Research Farm in Roseau to observe test plots and say a few words. We worked hard to get additional funding for turf seed research this session, and I enjoyed having the opportunity to see the good work that funding will support!
Recently I attended the ribbon cutting for the Roseau River Wildlife Management Area’s Pool 3 Outlet Project that has been in the works for nearly a decade. This project focused on flood mitigation, which is incredibly important in the Red River Basin and will move us towards our goal of holding back 20% of water during peak flood times, as well as helping to restore a favorable habitat for waterfowl.
I’d like to thank Tracy Halstensgard and the rest of the Roseau Watershed District Managers, the Red River Management Board, and especially Roseau Wildlife Management Area manager Randy Pracher.

I recently attended the International Legislators Forum put on the Consensus Council, with several other Minnesota legislators. The International Legislators Forum includes legislators from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Manitoba, and brings them together to discuss topics of common interest. This year, we discussed the opioid crisis, impacts of marijuana legalization, and water quality and the Big Sioux River. I enjoyed working with Representatives Backer and Acomb, and Senators Johnson, Tomassoni, and Weber, as well as hearing from Little Falls Drs. Bell and DeVine on opioids.
My door is always open to the needs and priorities of our area. Please feel free to let me know if I can be of assistance to you and your family. I am here to serve you!
