Roseau, MINN—The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) recently awarded a $500,000 grant for the Thief River Falls Riverwalk Flats through the Redevelopment Grant Program. The funding will go toward the demolishment of a former hospital building that will be redeveloped into a 62-unit workforce apartment building. DEED estimates the funding will create six jobs and increase the tax base by nearly $80,000.
Representative Dan Fabian, R-Roseau, released the following statement regarding the DEED grant:
“As a long-time champion of affordable workforce housing in Northwest Minnesota, I am pleased that DEED selected Thief River Falls for this important redevelopment project grant. Our community has a number of great employers, and we want to ensure that folks that want to work here can find a home here. This grant will also encourage investment and job creation in our part of the state.”
