REP. TORKELSON FINDS GOOD NEWS IN LATEST CENSUS, THANKS MINNESOTA CENSUS TAKERS

Thursday, April 29, 2021

ST. PAUL – Census data released this week found good news for the State of Minnesota according to State Representative Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska) Minnesota will, by an 89-person margin, keep all 8 of its congressional districts for the next ten years.

“As the House Republican lead on the redistricting committee, I can’t thank our census takers enough for their outstanding work for going the extra mile to get this complete count,” Torkelson said.

As GOP lead, Torkelson will take an active role on the Minnesota House Redistricting Committee in drafting new congressional and legislative boundaries for Minnesota's congressional and legislative districts. He said this task is made easier knowing Minnesota will not lose a seat in Congress, beating out New York for the final district.

“There’s no doubt that creating new congressional and legislative district boundaries for the next decade will be a tremendous challenge, but I am truly looking forward to it,” Torkelson said.
