RESULTS FROM REP. PAUL ANDERSON'S 2013 LEGISLATIVE SURVEY

 

1. Do you think Minnesota’s economy is improving?

2. The state’s economic forecast released on Feb. 28 indicates the state budget faces a $673 million deficit – a decrease from the $1.1 billion in November 2012. Do you support raising taxes to balance the budget?

3. Legislation has been introduced that would seek to create additional gun control laws in an effort to decrease gun violence. Do you support additional gun control measures?

4. Some unions and lawmakers are considering requiring private day care providers and personal care attendants to join a union. Proponents argue it will give more power to these workers to improve their wages and working conditions. Opponents say the measure is unnecessary and will increase the cost of daycare and personal care services for families. Do you support the unionization of child care providers and personal care attendants?

6. Minnesota law currently requires that 25 percent of our state’s energy comes from renewable sources by the year 2025. One proposal would add an additional 4 percent requirement for solar energy. Proponents of the plan argue that this technology is good for our environment and reduces our need for fossil fuels. Opponents argue that solar panel technology remains too expensive and inefficient, and that the mandate would increase utility rates. Do you support an additional 4 percent mandate, along with increasing the 25 percent renewable mandate to 40 percent by 2030?
