Rep. Paul Anderson responds to enactment of bonding bill

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

ST. PAUL – Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, said he is pleased to see Wednesday’s enactment of a capital investment bill the Legislature approved on May 20, featuring $825 million in general obligation bonds to fund construction projects throughout the state.

With funding such as trunk highway bonds included, the bill provides an additional $416 million for transportation. That includes $10.5 million for a Highway 55/Highway 29 separation project by Glenwood.

“I am very glad that project was included in the bill and it is a relief the governor signed it into law,” Anderson said. “This is a big project in our area that has been on the wish list for a number of years and I am pleased that we secured this funding. I look forward to seeing it come to fruition.”

The bonding portion of the bill includes:

  • $178 million for asset preservation
  • $123 million for water-related projects
    • $20 million for flood work
  • $208 million for higher education construction
  • $541 million for transportation
  • $32 million for veterans homes in Preston, Bemidji, and Montevideo
  • $28 million for mental health crisis centers
