For many years, broadband internet access across Minnesota has been a much-discussed topic in St. Paul. In the last few years, hundreds of millions of dollars was appropriated by the Minnesota Legislature to increase broadband access. Yesterday, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced that they would begin to award $95 million in broadband access grants.
Starting yesterday, Minnesotans can now submit applications for the grants. The deadline to submit these applications is August 4, 2022, at 4:00pm.

Whether you agree with using taxpayer dollars in this manner or not, the $95 million will inevitably be awarded to different parts of the state. As a result, I believe the people of our district should apply for this grant and get their share of the funds. After all, these are your tax dollars that the state is using to fund the broadband grants.
To those in our district who are interested, I encourage you to apply.
