Political Science Catches Up with Real Science

Democrats across the country are finally starting to lift many of the authoritarian mandates they forced on people. New York City is ending many of their restrictions, manipulative school leaders are ending mask mandates, and Minneapolis and St. Paul are no longer requiring vaccination or a negative COVID test to enter a restaurant.

One has to wonder why these progressive lockdown enthusiasts are changing their tune. The answer is easy; Democrats now see the writing on the wall. Their popularity is underwater, and their polling numbers are historically bad. As a result, Democrats are suddenly rushing to turn things back to normal. Only for politically expedient purposes are they finally acknowledging what we have known all along: the pandemic is not the end of the world, and people must be allowed to live their lives free from oppressive government.

As you know, I have been against the mandates, restrictions, and masks from the beginning. In April of 2020, I authored the first resolution to end the Governor’s emergency powers. There was no reason to shut down our economy, mask our children, or force vaccination. The liberals in charge tried to ruin our lives for nearly two years. They can try and change their story now, but we will not forget what they did to us.

In the Minnesota Legislature, we need to complete the transition back to normalcy. Mask mandates need to be eliminated, the public needs to be allowed back in, and the people’s voice must no longer be stifled. The only thing that should be mandated is freedom!

Mazeppa Bill Hearing

On Wednesday, I spoke in the House Tax Committee in support of legislation I have authored to help my hometown of Mazeppa. The bill, known as HF 2756, extends a sales tax exemption for construction materials and restaurant materials for two buildings that were destroyed in a fire in downtown Mazeppa several years ago.

An original sales tax exemption was passed in 2018, but the current bill would extend that exemption through the end of 2023. I was honored to have the Mayor of Mazeppa, Chris Hagfors, join us for the committee meeting. Mayor Hagfors was also joined by Former Mayor John Betcher and City Administrator Karl Nahrgang. Their testimonies on behalf of the bill were very important, and I want to thank them for their terrific support.

To see the hearing on the bill, please see the below video.

I am happy to say that the Tax Committee was very supportive of this bill. Members of both parties spoke in favor of HF 2756, and it will most likely be included in this year’s omnibus tax bill. I want to thank the chair of the House Tax Committee, Rep. Paul Marquart, for his support of this bill.

As your legislator in St. Paul, I always work my hardest to make sure the needs of our local communities are met. If there are any issues that you would like to talk about or discuss, please feel free to reach out to my office.

Avoid the Minnesota Student Survey

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is once again conducting social experiments on our children. From January 18 through June 10 of this year, MDE is administering the Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) to children in grades 5-12. Make no mistake, this survey is a malicious attempt to introduce harmful and immoral ideas to our children. Here are some of the questions in the survey:

  • From the 6th grade survey: “What is your gender identity? (Mark ALL that apply).”
  • From the 9th grade survey: “During the last 12 months, how many different partners have you had sex with?”

This is outrageous! The sick bureaucrats who put together this survey claim that they simply want to learn more about student behaviors, experiences, and opinions. However, any normal person can see that this survey is just a way to introduce deviant, subversive ideas into the minds of children.

School districts will decide for themselves whether they want to participate in the survey. If you are in a school district that chose to participate in the MSS, you do have the option to opt your child out of taking it. However, the fact that schools are automatically opting children into taking this survey just shows how hard schools are working to bypass parents.

If you are a parent, make sure your children are not subjected to this test. If you are a parent in a school district that chose to participate in the survey, make sure you make your voice heard at the next school board meeting. Those who put your children in harm’s way need to answer for what they’ve done.
