REP. DRAZKOWSKI MEETS WITH DISTRICT DAIRY FARMERS FOR DAIRY DAY

Wednesday, February 19, 2020

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R- Mazeppa) yesterday met with dairy farmers from his district as a part of Minnesota Milk’s annual Dairy Day at the Capitol. The group discussed the huge financial burden that Obamacare and property taxes have placed on family farms.

“Due to Minnesota’s regulatory environment, family farms are feeling an excessive burden,” said. Rep. Drazkowski. “Oftentimes, the people who are overregulating them do not have an understanding of farming and the environmental benefits that farmers bring to our state.”

Data from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture states that 315 dairy farms ceased production between January 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020. The USDA reports that nearly 20,000 dairy farms have stopped operations in the past decade (see photo, left to right: Dawn Raymond, Rep. Steve Drazkowski, Ann Buck).

Representative Steve Drazkowski represents House District 21B. He can be reached at (651) 564-0638.
