St Paul, Minnesota – Today at 2pm, Rep. Ryan Winkler will join local fire fighters and health advocates are asking for immediate action on toxic chemicals as a part of the GIVE TOXICS THE BOOT campaign.
The event will pay tribute to firefighters who have passed from occupational related illnesses, some linked to toxic chemical exposure. Organizers of the event hope to raise public awareness about the issue of toxic flame-retardants, fire fighters unique exposures and the need for strong government leadership on regulating toxic chemicals.
Rep. Winkler is the author of a bill that would require manufacturers to report to the PCA what harmful priority chemicals are present in their products.

WHAT: Leaders of these organizations will be speaking of the risk being posed by consumer products that contain certain dangerous chemicals. The risk to firefighters is multiplied as they deal with the chemicals as they burn.
