Reps. Masin, Morgan, Sen. Carlson to Hold Town Hall Meeting January 26

St. Paul, Minnesota — State Representatives Sandra Masin (DFL – Eagan and Burnsville), Will Morgan (DFL – Burnsville) and Senator Jim Carlson (DFL – Eagan and Burnsville) will be holding a town hall meeting at 9:30 AM on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Burnsville City Hall (100 Civic Center Parkway, Burnsville, MN 55337).

 

House Chief Fiscal Analyst Bill Marx will be giving a short presentation on the state budget before the legislators open up the meeting for questions and discussion.

 

Minnesota is facing a $1.1 billion budget deficit and still owes its K-12 schools another $1.1 billion.

 

“It’s clear that our state is facing some challenges,” said Rep. Masin. “We have to decide what we value as Minnesotans, and how to best close this deficit while funding the priorities that will make our state successful for future generations. I hope folks can attend and participate in this important discussion.”

 

“Our budget needs to needs to reflect both the priorities of Minnesotans and set our state on a long-term path to prosperity,” said Rep. Morgan. “Public input is absolutely essential to finding those solutions.”

 

“Hearing from our constituents about the challenges facing our state is extremely important to us,” said Sen. Carlson. “We’re facing a number of challenges, but if we listen to Minnesotans and craft a responsible budget that invests in Minnesota’s future, we can make our state an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
