Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

It looks like we are set to have a beautiful, yet chilly Thanksgiving. This year I am especially grateful for the continued health and wellbeing of my loved ones. This is a special time of year and it’s important that we connect with one another. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Booster Shots Available

Booster shots are now available and in order to have better protection you should get one when you are eligible. If you have initially received the Johnson & Johnson you should get a booster shot 2 months after your first shot; if you received the Pfizer or Moderna shots, you should get your booster 6 months after your second vaccine. Find a booster here. Remember, if you feel sick, stay home, and if you are concerned that it may be COVID-19, get tested. You can find testing locations here, and you can find your vaccination here.

Drive Safe!

Given that many people will be on the road this holiday, PLEASE DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AND SAFELY. Everyone deserves to return home safe and sound. I recently toured the I-94 construction work zone in Maple Grove. The speed limit is 60 miles per hour in the area. Cars have been monitored at 100 to 110 mph in this work zone. There is nothing responsible or safe about driving at these speeds. Please be careful, everyone deserves to return home safely.

Redistricting

The Minnesota House has released their preliminary map for the 2021 redistricting process. This map is in no way final, but it is an important starting point. There are two opportunities for the public to weigh in on the redistricting plan – Dec. 1st & Dec. 2nd. You can sign up to comment here. This is a very important process as we must ensure that every district has roughly equal population distribution, and that they will grow into their new boundaries appropriately. This can also cause quite a political shake-up as members of the same party may be forced to run against one another. In this map at least, our district will go relatively unchanged.

Capital Investment Visit

The House Capital Investment Committee recently visited Eagan as we presented our local projects which are eligible for state funding. We discussed the Minnesota River Greenway pedestrian/railroad separation. The greenway project will create a safe crossing of a busy rail route.

The Committee also visited the Dakota County Child and Family Clinic in Burnsville. The people in this facility do a marvelous job of helping people in our community and beyond. They are looking to expand their services.
