Masin calls for MNLARS fix – not empty talk
To the Editor:
Around the state, Minnesotans are being subjected to significant delays with the Minnesota License and Registration System (MNLARS).
These delays aren’t new; the rollout of MNLARS has encountered numerous road bumps and obstacles since Fall 2017. However, MN.IT, the agency responsible for building and implementing MNLARS, has new leadership and a detailed roadmap to avoid the mistakes of the past while delivering a quality system to the Minnesotans who rely on it.
Without funding, we will lose the contractors needed to make these fixes. Republicans refused to take action in a timely manner, resulting in contractor layoffs and subjecting drivers, auto dealers, and deputy registrars to even greater delays.
I’m concerned about the residents of our state who are under stress because of continued Republican inaction. We have a lot of people in pain who are working hard in the face of delays from a system that has had major difficulties. It will only get worse as the system deteriorates, which the House majority has signaled it is willing to let happen. From dealerships to the DMVs, Minnesotans are forced to deal with the consequences of this disastrous decision making.
This state deserves a system that works well and I remain committed to delivering it. It is incumbent on us to get the job done.
