Preemption bill passes House
Saint Paul, Minn. – After the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a bill preventing cities from setting a higher minimum wage, Rep. Sandra Masin, DFL-Eagan, released the following statement:
“The vote today strips local control away from our towns and cities around the state. Our communities are facing serious problems, so they should be able to vote to set a higher minimum wage or require benefits be provided by employers above state minimums. Local governments and the people they represent deserve the right to make decisions based on their values.
I am surprised and appalled at the Republican animosity towards local control in this bill and others being heard at the Capitol.”
