Legislative Update – January 10, 2024

Dear Neighbors,

Today I attended a meeting of the Dakota County Regional Chamber. It was good to connect with small business owners early in the New Year.

I was also glad to chat with Ann Bailey, the president of DARTS, a community-based nonprofit serving seniors and their families in and around Dakota County. I am dedicated to continuing our work supporting seniors in the legislature alongside organizations such as DARTS.

2025 LCCMR Request for Proposals Open

I am happy to announce that the Minnesota Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR), which I co-chair, has just opened its 2025 request for proposals. We are accepting proposals that aim to protect, conserve, preserve, and enhance Minnesota's air, water, land, fish, wildlife, and other natural resources.

Approximately $90 million is available, and the deadline is March 27, 2024 - learn more on the commission’s website: 2025 Proposal Process

Community Events

I would like to highlight some important community events in the coming week. On Saturday, January 13th from 2-4:30 pm, Friends of Grey Cloud will be holding a “Protect the Dunes” community forum at the Park Grove Library featuring local conservation experts. You can RSVP at the Facebook event here.

South St. Paul will be holding a fundraiser for Kaposia Days on Sunday, January 14th from noon-4 pm at the Croatian Hall. There will be a taco feed and a meat raffle. I hope you can make it, more information can be found here.

2

I want to extend an invitation to the 3rd annual South St. Paul Commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on 20th Ave N on Monday at 9:00 am. The event is free to attend and open to all residents and will be followed by a social gathering and a small breakfast. I hope you will be able to attend to honor the inspiring work and legacy of Dr. King.
