Legislative Update – August 18, 2023
Dear neighbors,
This past week I have been busy participating in the annual legislative conferences for the National Caucus of State Legislators (NCSL) and the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL) in Indianapolis. At the annual business meeting I served as our Minnesota delegation chair, where our resolutions passed unanimously.
I also participated in an update on the War in Ukraine given by Dan Fried, the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, and meetings about our economic and workforce recovery, the importance of recycling and the challenges of recycling electronics, and more.
As a member of the NCSL Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee, I wrote a resolution on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), supporting research to examine the disease and its potential human impacts. I also authored a resolution on microplastics urging the EPA to increase research efforts on the subject. Both were passed unanimously. You can learn more about the full conference on the NCSL site.
