Legislative Update - June 2, 2022

Thursday, June 2, 2022

Dear neighbors,

I hope you and your loved ones were able to recognize Memorial Day. It’s a valuable opportunity to remember people who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and to pay our respects.

To honor our fallen heroes, we must support their families and fellow veterans. A few weeks ago, lawmakers passed bipartisan legislation to provide more resources to veterans and service members. The bill, which I supported, includes funding to end veterans homelessness and build new veterans homes. It also delivers service bonuses to post-9/11 era veterans. If you’d like to read more about the bill, please check out the article published by Session Daily.

Bonus Pay for Frontline Workers

As I mentioned in my last email, applications for frontline worker payments are expected to open on Wednesday, June 8. Eligible Minnesotans – health care workers, first responders, child care providers, food service and retail workers, and others who kept our state running during the darkest days of the pandemic – will have 45 days to apply before applications close on Friday, July 22. If you think you might be eligible for a bonus payment, you can review the criteria and other information at frontlinepay.mn.gov

Community Events and Activities

Officer Scott Patrick Memorial Run/Walk

The 17th annual Officer Scott Patrick Memorial Run/Walk is this Saturday, June 4! The 5K race starts at 9:00 a.m. at The Village at Mendota Heights, located at the intersection of Main Street and Market Street.
