Rep. Hansen welcomes House Capital Investment Committee to Mendota, Mendota Heights, South St. Paul, and West St. Paul

Today, the House Capital Investment Committee began a two-day tour of southeastern Minnesota. Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL – South St. Paul) joined the committee as they visited sites in Mendota and Mendota Heights. Rep. Hansen and the Capital Investment Committee will attend tours and presentations in South St. Paul and West St. Paul tomorrow. 

“Investing in projects like these will strengthen our community and our state,” said Rep. Hansen. “Thanks to low interest rates and our excellent state credit rating, this is a great time to support local projects. I hope legislators will come together and seize this opportunity to improve public infrastructure and create good-paying jobs for Minnesotans.” 

The committee is visiting sites across Minnesota that could receive capital investment. In Mendota, lawmakers learned about issues with the city’s water system and proposed solutions, including watermain looping and pressure reduction stations. The legislators also toured the Ohéyawahe/Pilot Knob site in Mendota Heights. They learned about plans to restore the site and make it more accessible while maintaining its sacred and historical nature.  

Tomorrow, Rep. Hansen will welcome the Capital Investment Committee to South St. Paul and West St. Paul. Lawmakers will visit the South St. Paul Public Library and hear about plans to construct a new building. They’ll also learn about possible upgrades to the city’s utility system. In West St. Paul, the committee will tour a lift station and learn about proposed improvements.
