Legislative Update - November 5, 2020

Thursday, November 5, 2020

Dear neighbors,

I’d like to thank the residents of West St. Paul, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Lilydale, and South St. Paul for the trust you’ve placed in me as I prepare for another term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. It’s a great honor to serve our community.

Information about the incoming Legislature will be available after all of the votes in Minnesota have been counted. The 2021-2022 Election Directory, which contains information about each member of the Minnesota House and Senate, will be uploaded here. I’ll share updates as we prepare for the next legislative session, so please stay tuned!

Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, which is next Wednesday, November 11, we celebrate and honor the brave men and women who’ve served our country. No matter which branch they served in or where they were stationed, our veterans deserve to be recognized. However, it’s not enough to thank them once a year. We all have a responsibility to ensure that service members have opportunities to thrive and can return to supportive and caring communities once their missions are finished.

The annual State of Minnesota Veterans Day event will be held virtually this year. Starting at 8 a.m. on Veterans Day, you’ll be able to watch the program at MinnesotaVeteran.org/VeteransDay2020.

Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial

The annual ceremony that commemorates the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald and lives lost in Great Lakes shipwrecks will take place on Tuesday, November 10. Minnesotans can watch the virtual event on the Minnesota Historical Society’s Facebook page from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Beacon will be lit after the ceremony.

I’m looking forward to working with you and fighting for our values at the Capitol! Please feel free to email me at rep.rick.hansen@house.mn if you have questions, ideas, or feedback.

Sincerely,

Rick Hansen
State Representative
