Saint Paul, MN—Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) earned a Pollinator Hero award at the third annual Pollin*NATION festival. The festival, held Sunday September 10th, had more than 1,000 attendees buzz though.
Pollinator Hero awards were presented to those who have demonstrated their outstanding advocacy work to protect pollinators. Rep. Hansen was honored due to his continued work, dating back to 2013, to protect pollinators.
Rep. Hansen started a state review of neonicotinoid insecticides, has worked to foster policies to make municipalities and school districts pollinator friendly hubs, and is looked to nationally for his pollinator work with the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators. In giving this award, Rick Hansen’s efforts were held up as a reason why Minnesota leads the nation in pollinator policies and research.
