Release: Rep. Jeanne Poppe recognized by Minnesota’s Federation of County Fairs

Friday, July 13, 2018

SAINT PAUL, MN—In early 2018, Rep. Jeanne Poppe (DFL-Austin) was one of five legislators recognized by the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs as one of their 2018 “Friend of County Fairs” recipients. In recognizing Rep. Poppe, the federation noted her long history of supporting and promoting Minnesota’s county fairs, especially through her work as a leader on agriculture policy and finance committees.

“A special part of summer in Minnesota is county fair season,” remarked Rep. Poppe. “Fairs are a great example of everything we value in Minnesota’s rural and regional communities, including our deep roots and strong relationship with agriculture. Not only are fairs a great chance to have some fun with your neighbors, they’re an opportunity for youth to get involved in agriculture, and local businesses and farm families to showcase their hard work. I’m proud to support Minnesota’s long tradition of county fairs and all they offer to our communities, large and small. As we are in the midst of fair season, I hope you get out and enjoy the fairs in southern Minnesota.”

Minnesota’s Federation of County Fairs is a nonprofit organization that works closely with elected officials. They also guide, educate and inform county fairs on Minnesota's laws and pending legislation, as well as promote agriculture generally.

Rep. Jeanne Poppe is the DFL Lead on the House Agriculture Finance Committee. She can be reached at rep.jeanne.poppe@house.mn or at 651-296-4193.
