The Capitol is busy with committee hearings, meeting with constituents and rallies at the Capitol. We had groups like History Matters, ERA MN International Women’s Day, MN Golf Course Superintendents Association, Pediatricians Day on the Hill, National Eagle Center, Second Chance Day, and MN Optometric Association at the Capitol. We also had thousands marching to the Capitol demanding lawmakers address gun violence.

Veterans Rally at the Capitol
Veterans Day at the Capitol is today to rally in support of Veterans! This year’s event will focus on legislation that will help surviving spouses keep their homes, stopping predatory lending against veteran’s benefits, and increasing access to the outdoors for disabled vets. There was a great rally in the Capitol Rotunda.
National School Breakfast Week
We all know that every child deserves an opportunity for a quality education. School breakfast programs improve student experiences at school and success of students who participate. Last week, the School Nutrition Association encouraged parents, students, and school officials to come together and enjoy school breakfast. The weeklong program highlighted school breakfast in our local community. I know nutrition is an important foundation to help students learn, that’s why I’m a supporter of school breakfast programs and banning policies like lunchroom shaming for students who don’t have enough in their lunch account to cover the cost of a meal. It is really exciting to see so many students start their day with a healthy meal that gets them ready to learn.
