St. Paul, Minnesota — Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman released the following statement on the passing of former Vice President Walter Mondale:
“Vice President Mondale was such a wonderful role model, mentor, and supporter. He was a hero to me and inspired me to become a lawyer and run for office. As a child, I wanted to grow up to be exactly like him. Vice President Mondale always exemplified everything a lawyer and a public servant should be. He was dedicated to justice and improving people’s lives. And he did that work with incredible class and dignity. He treated everyone with respect, even his political adversaries. His passing is a colossal loss for Minnesota and the world.”
