Wednesday, March 25, 2020

St. Paul, Minnesota — This afternoon, Governor Walz announced a Stay at Home Executive Order, directing Minnesotans to limit movements outside of their homes beyond essential needs from March 27 at 11:59pm to April 10 at 5:00pm.

House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Majority Leader Ryan Winkler released the following statements:

“The decision made by Governor Walz today is difficult, but in the best interest of Minnesotans,” said Speaker Hortman. “Minnesotans have done an excellent job social distancing, but we need to keep fighting to slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent our health care system from being overwhelmed. I thank Governor Walz for his continued steady leadership during this public health crisis. The Minnesota House is ready to convene tomorrow to do our part and pass legislation to help safeguard the health and economic well-being of Minnesotans.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to upend our day-to-day lives, but we know that Minnesotans will continue to look out for each other and we will get through this,” said Majority Leader Winkler. “The Minnesota House will continue doing everything we can to help Minnesotans during this difficult time and into the future.”
