HOUSE REPUBLICAN STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR DAYTON SIGNING MINIMUM WAGE LEGISLATION

Monday, April 14, 2014
St. Paul, MN -- Rep. Pat Garofalo, R-Farmington, issued the following statement after Governor Dayton signed into law a minimum wage increase--a deal agreed to by Democrats only after final approval was given by the House Rules Committee for the construction of an $89 million Senate Office complex:

"After weeks of political backroom dealing, Democrats finally reached a deal that will take more money from Minnesota businesses and put thousands of Minnesotans out of work in exchange for approval to build themselves a $90 million office building for politicians," Rep. Garofalo said. "Trading an irresponsible increase in the minimum wage that will drive up unemployment for an office building is just the latest example of Democrats putting self-service before public service, and politics before the best interests of Minnesota families."
