Rep. Urdahl responds to Gov’s extension of restrictions

Wednesday, December 16, 2020

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, issued the following statement after Gov. Tim Walz announced Wednesday that he will extend shutdowns and restrictions of Minnesota businesses into the new year, with some moderate easing:

“There are some slight improvements in what the governor is ordering but, until we take real steps toward re-opening our state, it’s not enough,” Urdahl said. “For example, when infection rates for restaurants are less than 1 percent, it seems logical for them to operate at a moderate capacity instead of the governor continuing to ban dine-in service at least until Jan. 10. Outdoor dining during the dead of Minnesota winter might be a novel idea, but it’s not practical in most cases and data does not appear to support that decision. It’s good to see youth activities will be resuming to some degree and I hope we’re able to soon resume games as we take more needed steps toward safely re-opening Minnesota.”
