Increased traffic through the Department of Employment and Economic Development's phone system appears to be causing a small number of dropped phone calls at DEED's call center.
The length of time it can take for DEED representatives to explain the changing federal eligibility criteria also could be bogging down the system; callers wait an average of five minutes to be connected with an operator.
DEED is working to work out the phone bugs and I urge you to continue calling DEED if you need to speak with someone at the unemployment center. Go ahead and dial the number again if your call happens to be dropped.
