Statement from Rep. Dean Urdahl re: economic forecast

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

ST. PAUL – Minnesota Management & Budget on Tuesday issued an updated state economic forecast and it projects a $1.65 billion surplus through the 2018-19 biennium – an increase of about $250 million over the previous full forecast issued in December. Below is a statement from Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, in response.

“It's good to see our economy continues to head in the right direction,” Urdahl said. “On the other hand, it is further evidence Minnesota taxpayers are being overcharged and tax relief should be a main objective this session. This surplus also may allow us to do more for priority areas such as education, transportation and care for seniors. That said, fiscal restraint will be a key component so we can lower the trajectory of state spending growth and provide more stability for the long term.”
