Statement on Governor Dayton’s State of the State Address

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

SAINT PAUL, MN— Wednesday evening Gov. Dayton delivered his State of the State address, outlining his proposals to invest in education, balance the state budget, and position Minnesota for the future.

Representative Michael V. Nelson (Brooklyn Park - DFL) was pleased by the priorities lay out in the Governor’s address and looks forward to working with him on the issues impacting Minnesota. He released the following statement:

“I was particularly glad to hear the Governor emphasized creating good-paying jobs here in Minnesota and investing in education so that Minnesotans will be prepared for the economy of the future. I also appreciated the Governor’s focus on funding important construction projects that will help get Minnesotans back to work and improve our state’s public infrastructure.

“The Governor, my colleagues and I will work diligently to Minnesota forward over the next several months. I am confident that we will craft a budget that isn’t balanced on the backs of middle class Minnesotans, but instead puts our state back on the path to long-term prosperity.”
