To the Editor,
Several weeks ago seven apartments were destroyed at the Windsor Gates Apartment in Brooklyn Park. Thankfully, while, no one was killed or seriously injured the fire left 25 residents – our neighbors – without a home.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to the emergency responders whose quick response helped avert an even greater tragedy. Time and again, these brave men and women put their own lives at risk to help those who need their help.
Minnesotans have always demonstrated a willingness to come to the aid of their neighbors in times of trouble. Many of these families have lost everything. As a community, we need to rally around them and do what we can to help them recover."
There are many agencies that you can contact to lend your support to these families in need, including:
Red Cross – Local Disaster Relief Fund
Twin Cities Area Chapter NW 5597

United Way – Twin Cities – Disaster Aid
Cell phone users call 651-291-0211
Local Food Shelves
Community Emergency Assistance Program

Again, I ask you to join me in showing your support for our neighbors with your prayers, your time and your contributions. It’s the Minnesota way, and just a part of what makes our community and our state such a great place to live, work and raise a family.
