RELEASE: Rep. Lesch to accept no per diem during special session

Friday, May 24, 2019

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz has declared a special session of the Minnesota Legislature to be held today to complete a compromise state budget. Rep. John Lesch (DFL – Saint Paul) has announced his intention to not accept per diem payment during the special session.

“I’m pleased that the Governor and legislative leaders were able to come to a bipartisan compromise on the state budget on time,” Rep. Lesch said. “However, nonpartisan staff needed some extra time to put the details together, and it was also necessary to give Minnesotans enough time to examine the legislation before it is voted on by the Minnesota House. This meant a special session was required. Regardless, I will not be accepting per diem pay during this special session and I’ve requested that House budget staff withhold this payment.”
