REP. GUNTHER NAMED CHAIRMAN OF HOUSE GREATER MINNESOTA ECONOMIC AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT POLICY COMMITTEE

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

ST. PAUL – Minnesota House Speaker-elect Kurt Daudt has appointed State Representative Bob Gunther (R-Fairmont) as Chairman of the Minnesota House Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy Committee.

Gunther said this is the only House committee that will completely focus on the issues facing our rural communities.

“Because the vast majority of our House Republican caucus comes from Greater Minnesota, our leadership thought it was appropriate to have one committee that works specifically on behalf of Greater Minnesota,” Gunther said. “I’m proud to be its chairman and looking forward to accelerating the growth and prosperity of our rural areas.”

Gunther said the Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy Committee will serve as a starting point for any potential legislation that could improve the quality of life in rural Minnesota. This includes bills relating to roads, housing, tourism, workforce needs, economic development, even wastewater facilities.

Gunther was recently elected to his 11th term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
