Runbeck named Legislator of Distinction

Friday, August 1, 2014

ST. PAUL – Rep. Linda Runbeck, R-Circle Pines, recently was named a 2014 Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities.

According to the LMC, the honor “recognizes legislators for specific actions that aided efforts of Minnesota cities during this year’s legislative session.” The legislation Runbeck successfully authored in that regard includes:

  • Stipulating that northeast metro cities have 50% membership on DNR's Advisory Team developing precedent-setting groundwater management area (GWMA) plans.
  • Establishing a funding mechanism for Anoka County public works projects that will save taxpayers an estimated $600,000.
  • Halting a bill that would have cut street aid for Circle Pines.
  • Procuring funding for a six-city feasibility study of regional water management to aid the cities of District 38A. The results of that study are scheduled to be available by October 2014.

The cities represented by Rep. Runbeck in District 38A are Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Hugo, Lexington and Lino Lakes.  The city of Columbus is also included in the regional water study.  A total of 19 House members out of a total of 134 members received the League of Minnesota Cities award.
