Rep. Pelowski votes for E-12 Education Budget, includes per-pupil funding increase for Winona and Lewiston-Altura Public Schools

Saturday, June 26, 2021

St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives approved the E-12 Education Budget. The legislation makes the strongest level of investment in public schools in 15 years, preserves 4,000 pre-K slots set to expire without action, makes historic investments, and holds down special education costs. State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL - Winona) voted in favor of the legislation.

“Our bipartisan E-12 education budget delivers on sorely-needed investments to help our schools bounce back from the hardships of the past year,” said Rep. Pelowski. “All Minnesota children deserve access to a world-class education, and the per-pupil funding increases that Winona and Lewiston-Altura Public Schools will see, including in the area of special education, will better equip our schools to educate young minds.”

Based on the per-pupil funding formula from the education budget, Winona Area Public Schools would see a per-pupil funding increase of $260 in Fiscal Year 2022 and $410 in Fiscal Year 2023, and Lewiston-Altura Public Schools would see a per-pupil funding increase of $203 in Fiscal Year 2022 and $365 in Fiscal Year 2023.
