Thank you, veterans

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Dear Neighbor,

I encourage local citizens to join me in personally letting people who have served in our armed forces know how much we appreciate their enormous sacrifices.

Monday is Veterans Day and ceremonies will take place all across the nation to recognize the men and women who have donned a United States of America uniform.

Locally, one Veterans Day program open to the public will take place 2 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Veterans Home – Fergus Falls (1821 N. Park St.).

Another community program will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Kennedy Secondary School Auditorium (601 Randolph Ave., Fergus Falls). John Kriesel will be a featured speaker at that event. He is a military veteran who lost both legs to a roadside bomb while serving overseas and earned a Purple Heart Medal for his service to our country.

John and I served together in the Minnesota House in 2011-12 before he retired and became the director of veterans services for Anoka County. John gave some very impassioned speeches on the House floor during his time in the Legislature. I am sure he will be a very entertaining speaker Monday night and hope you can attend.

Thanks again, to our veterans. We can never repay the debt of gratitude we owe you.

Sincerely,

Bud
