The higher education omnibus bill continues to make its way through the House of Representatives. This bill makes policy changes related to public and private postsecondary education, including the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU), and the Office of Higher Education (OHE).
I have mentioned in the past a bill that provides for motorcycle road-guards. This bill creates a motorcycle road guard certificate under which a person can stop and hold traffic during a motorcycle group ride. This bill continues to move through the House, and I hope that it will pass the floor before session ends.
The bonding bill and the Vikings stadium bill remain two issues needing to be resolved before adjournment. As these bills progress through the House I will keep you updated.
A bill that passed the House and then moved to a conference committee with the House and Senate has re-passed the House this week, and is now headed for the Governor’s desk. This bill would repay the money borrowed from schools during the 2011 session and would begin to repay the money borrowed during the 2009 session. This is a great bill, and it is my hope that Governor Dayton will sign it and start to repay our schools.
I’d like to hope everyone has a safe and blessed Easter.
