Minnesotans should be proud of themselves for a big turnout on Election Day. We led the nation with a 77.9-percent voting rate. We didn’t break the record (83 percent in 1956) but still had remarkable participation.
The new legislative session gets underway in early January. I’ll be sure to e-mail you with a primer of key issues as we get closer to the opening gavel. There are a number of bills I will be introducing this session and we’ll pass along information on those as well.
Meantime, I wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving. The tight economy could leave some area families feeling strapped this holiday season, so please do what you can to help friends/family in need.
More and more folks are relying on food shelves, but the supply has diminished in part because food companies are running more efficient operations these days; there just aren’t as many scratch-and-dent vegetable cans, for example, given to food shelves. Donations of cash or food always are welcome and your generosity is especially appreciated during the holiday season due to increased demand.
