Local business expands; Hospice Day at Target Field approaching

Friday, August 21, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are enjoying the final weeks of summer, with high school football games getting underway this weekend and the start of school just around the corner.

A nice ceremony took place at Tuffy's Pet Foods Inc. in Perham Wednesday as the local business held a grand opening for its new $70 million facility. It has been quite the evolution for a local company which has grown from 3,000 square feet when it opened in 1964 to more than 700,000 state-of-the-art feet today.

It is an impressive facility and it is good to see a local business make such a significant investment in our area. This new facility should allow Tuffy's to do well to increase production and I enjoyed attending the festivities this week.

On another subject, Lakeland Hospice in Fergus Falls is working in conjunction with Nita Killebrew to organize the third annual Harmon Killebrew Hospice Day at Target Field Saturday Aug. 29. The Twins will host the Houston Astros at 6:10 that night. There will be giveaways, including a chance to come away with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with the legendary Tony Oliva's signature. Call Tammy Anderson with Lakeland at (218) 998-1423 for more details.

Hospice Day has been a well-attended event in previous years, with around 30 busses heading to Minneapolis from our area. Proceeds go toward hospice care, so I hope another huge area delegation takes part this year to support a worthy cause.

Sincerely,

Bud
