NORNES TAKES OATH IN HOUSE OF REPS.

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

ST. PAUL – Rep. Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, took his 10th oath of office to serve in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 89th Legislature convened at the Capitol in St. Paul.

Nornes was re-elected to serve District 8A last November. He is chairing the House Higher Education Policy & Finance Committee this biennium, a post he held under previous Republican majorities. Nornes also will be on Education Finance, Education Innovation Policy, Agriculture Policy, and Ways and Means panels in the House.

“It is good to be back in St. Paul so we can begin working on important legislation, especially setting a new two-year budget,” Nornes said. “It will be interesting to see how things turn out in the end since the Legislature’s power is split between parties and we have a governor who is not up for re-election.”

Nornes has a new office in St. Paul, 471 of the State Office Building. He encourages local citizens to set up an appointment to visit by calling (612) 296-4946 or by emailing rep.bud.nornes@house.mn. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them at his official state website: www.house.mn/8a.

“We face difficult decisions in determining ways of providing citizens with better opportunities and strengthening our state overall – specifically our economy,” Nornes said. “Direct input from the citizens of District 8A helps me continue doing my best to serve as a local voice in St. Paul, so I welcome feedback along the way.”
