You’re Invited: Town Hall on Police Violence Prevention Saturday

Thursday, May 28, 2020

Dear Neighbors,

I join our community in being outraged at the killing of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis Police Officer Monday. The reality people of color and Indigenous people – especially of black men – face when having interactions with law enforcement is utterly unacceptable and must end.

On Saturday, you’re invited to a Virtual Town Hall on Police Violence Prevention from 1-3 p.m. on my Facebook page. We will have leaders from community organizations share their perspectives, answer questions about the killing, and discuss the next steps we have come up with so far to address this crisis.

WHAT: Virtual Town Hall on Police Violence Prevention
WHEN: Saturday, May 30th, 1-3 p.m.
WHERE: Facebook Live, www.facebook.com/repmariani

If you’d like to participate in the conversation or send a statement, please contact Jason Chavez, my legislative assistant, at Jason.Chavez@house.mn.

As chair of the House Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Division, I’ve worked to reimagine public safety in a community-centered way. Bringing accountability and greater humanity towards ending the killings of people of color and Indigenous people at the hands of our law enforcement entities is a significant part of these efforts. The voices of Minnesotans impacted every single day are a crucial part of this conversation, and I hope you can join us.

Sincerely,

Carlos Mariani
State Representative
