ST. PAUL – Minnesota Management and Budget on Wednesday issued the state’s February economic forecast and it indicates a $329 million revenue surplus for the biennium ending in June of 2019. That reflects a $517 million improvement on the bottom line since the November forecast. Below is a statement from Rep. Jim Knoblach, R-St. Cloud, in response.
“This forecast shows a good surplus, in contrast to the November forecast,” Knoblach said. “The historic tax relief and other decisions we have made are producing results. This surplus puts us in position for another successful session, including cutting taxes and passing tax conformity, doing a bonding bill, and dealing with other state needs like health care costs. Issues like these will be a key focus from now until we adjourn in late May.”
