Rep. Alice Hausman votes ‘yes’ on frontline worker bonus pay

Thursday, February 24, 2022

St. Paul, Minn. – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives approved HF 2900, giving frontline workers bonus up to $1,500 in bonus pay for their role to help protect Minnesotans during the pandemic.

State Representative Alice Hausman (DFL-Falcon Heights) reacted to the passage:

“Our frontline workers showed up every day during the pandemic to do the jobs which cannot be done remotely. They deserve our appreciation, but also an acknowledgement of their sacrifices. Passage today of this measure was an important milestone and now the Minnesota Senate must take action so we can send this bill to the governor and get money in the pockets of those who were there for us.”

The bill dedicates $1 billion for bonus payments to thousands of frontline workers who were required to show up at work every day and kept our state running during the pandemic. Those eligible include long-term and home care workers, non-physician health care workers, teachers, and school staff, first responders, janitorial, maintenance, and security workers, bus drivers, child care workers and more.

You can watch debate on the House of Representatives YouTube page.
