Neighbors and Friends,
We are making progress on approving the 2-year budget. We have passed budgets for Legacy, Agriculture, Commerce, Energy and Higher Education. I serve on the Transportation committee and on Wednesday we approved the budget with an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 112-21.
On Thursday, we approved the compromise agreement with the Senate on the Housing budget. This legislation protects renters and provides resources for landlords whose tenants have not been able to pay rent during COVID-19. It also provides affordable housing around the state through public and private investments.
All Minnesotans deserve safe, secure, and affordable housing. Long before COVID, Minnesota was experiencing an affordable housing crisis and now, we will invest in innovative solutions to take on housing insecurity as we build back from the pandemic.
We can’t replace a pandemic with an eviction crisis, which is why we successfully fought for the inclusion of an orderly off-ramp to our current eviction moratorium. Our housing budget gives both renters and landlords the time they need to take advantage of federal funds.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update
The best way to protect everyone from COVID-19 is to get a vaccine. The Minnesota Department of Health reports more than 3 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Check out Minnesota’s COVID-19 mn.gov/vaccineconnector, or ask your health care provider to help you find a vaccine.
The COVID-19 vaccine is now widely available at several clinics in our community. Check here for more information.
