Neighbors and Friends,
Thursday, the Minnesota House approved an orderly off ramp of the eviction moratorium declared by Gov. Walz last year to prevent a wave of evictions while ensuring landlords are made whole for rent owed to them. The bill provides a roadmap to transition off the current residential eviction moratorium by ensuring renters have enough time to access federal funding for rental assistance when the COVID-19 related peacetime emergency ends and provides clarity to the process.
As more vaccines become available, the pandemic is easing, yet there are still many of our neighbors who are unemployed and face the risk of eviction. The eviction moratorium reduced the spread of COVID-19 and protected the most vulnerable Minnesotans from the threat of losing their home. We must continue to protect those Minnesotans once the eviction moratorium is lifted, and this bill provides a realistic timeline for both landlords and tenants to access the rental assistance that will keep people in their homes.
The bill can be viewed here. My statement is here.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update
New data released shows more than 2.5 million Minnesotans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Since vaccine eligibility has expanded, more Minnesotans are getting appointments every day.
It is important to get a vaccine to protect yourself and others and move toward participating in activities we enjoy and spending more time with family and friends.
If you haven’t received your vaccination, Take a look at Minnesota’s COVID-19 mn.gov/vaccineconnector, call 833-431-2053 or check with your health insurance carrier to help you find out when, where, and how to get a vaccine.
You can learn the most recent statistics on who is getting vaccinating and other key data by clicking on this link.
