Rep. Hausman Approves Insulin Affordability

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

SAINT PAUL, MN – Tuesday, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act. The legislation establishes an emergency insulin program for the Minnesotans who need it most, with insulin manufacturers financially participating in the solution. Alec’s Bill passed on a vote of 111-22. Rep. Alice Hausman released the following statement:

“For many months, we have been fighting to pass this life-saving action. The parents of Alec Smith and advocates throughout the state have shared their stories, attended hearings and floor sessions, talked to legislators and worked tirelessly to get this bill passed by the legislature and signed by the governor. We passed this bill today so no other family has to go through the heartache of losing a loved one because they can’t afford their insulin.”
