Legislative Update - May 3, 2019

Friday, May 3, 2019

Neighbors and Friends,

It has been a very busy and productive couple of weeks at the Capitol as we debated and passed our budget bills. I’m happy to say we have constructed a budget that is fair to all Minnesotans, no matter where they live and what they look like.

Habitat for Humanity

Earlier this week, Habitat for Humanity held their annual Day on the Hill event. The group gave me this beautiful poster in appreciation of our efforts this session to deliver additional affordable housing around the state.

Conference Committee

I have been named to serve on the Omnibus Agriculture, Rural Development and Housing finance bill conference committee. Our first meeting is scheduled next week, where we expect to get to work on a compromise bill that Gov. Walz will sign. You can click here to view the legislative schedule and follow all of the conference committee action.

My Housing Policy bill will be heard on the House floor this coming Monday and then will be incorporated into the conference committee.

Health Care

Governor Walz met with health care leaders this week to emphasize the importance of protecting the Health Care Access Fund. Read more here.
