Legislative Update from Rep. Sondra Erickson

Friday, January 19, 2018

Friends and Neighbors,

Skol Vikings! Wow, what a miraculous, last-second win by our Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. The team’s determination and never-say-die attitude this season has been remarkable to watch. Click here to watch a short video message I recorded wishing the team best of luck as they play for a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

2018 March for Life

The 2018 March for Life rally will be held MondayJanuary 22 on the front steps of the Capitol. The program is set to begin at 12:30. I encourage you to attend and be a part of the thousands of individuals who will gather across the country on that day to peacefully protest our nation’s abortion laws. Following the program, I will be hosting constituents and friends in the Governor's Dining Room of the capitol basement. Please dress warmly if you are planning to attend.

Beware of thin ice

While we’ve had some brutally cold weather the last month or so, it is worth reminding folks about the dangers of thin ice. This is especially important for a lake as large and deep as Mille Lacs. Here are some guidelines on how to stay safe this winter:

  •  Always wear a life jacket on the ice (except when in a vehicle).
  • When a child is near the ice, an adult should be near the child.
  • Caution children to stay off ponds, streams, and other bodies of water.
  • A thin coating of ice on a pond or lake does not mean it is safe.

As temps warm up this week, keep those guidelines in mind.

That’s all for this week’s update. Please be sure to contact my office via email at rep.sondra.erickson@house.mnor by phone at 651-296-6746 if you have any questions or comments related to state government. It would be great to speak with you.

Have a great weekend,

Sondra
